Amidst the madness that was the 12/6/96 encore, one of the Elvis impersonators began singing the Dale Hawkins hit "Susie Q" during "Suzy Greenberg." Because the music never strays from the younger Suzy's theme, the Phish.net setlists do not consider "Susie Q" to have been performed by Phish that fateful night in Vegas. Perhaps out of deference to a rock pioneer or for reasons having to do with the vagaries of U.S. copyright law, Phish decided to include "Susie Q" as a separate track on their Vegas 96 release. Either way, we should probably just be happy that what happened in Vegas didn't stay in Vegas.
