Review by DollarBill

DollarBill This is the last show at the Michigan Theatre and 54th of the tour. Much better playing than last night and a full explanation of the encore that ended last night make this show very interesting. Trey continued some set list maintenance as well showing some rusty songs. Unfortunately time has not been this recording's friend. It's still good, but not pristine by any means.

Rift gets moved to the opener spot and this one was ok, better with the timing problems. Guelah was pretty solid except for the end where it seemed Page was off a bit. Melt was really good, and Sparkle was pretty standard. Divided Sky was good and rocking for the most part, but had some weak spots toward the ending. Fee was good and had quite a volume increase, like the taper or Paul adjusted the levels. Trey really rushed getting into a rocking Maze and Mike sounded frustrated. The top of Horn was cut most likely by an old tape flip. It's been a while for Horn and it shows, but not too bad. This is where it gets great as IDK unfolds with no Fishman solo; Page takes on last night's encore with various reviews. Very unique, check this out! Cavern had some feedback, but was otherwise ok to close up an average first set.

Poor Hear was good to open second set and the tape source sounds a little different. Tweezer rocked and included a slow down ending from Fish. Horse was good and it seemed like Trey is teasing ELP or someone like that. Silent is ok, but still not all the way there in the timing. Possum was good and we get a lot of Mike on the back half of this show continuing into an ok Mound. It had a few rough spots in it and then the Balls come out... Mike's Song was kind of a disaster for my ears. Just too many bad notes and I'm wondering if there were antics going on that would explain this. No Hydro tonight, or Week, as Trey leads them into YaMar? This one is a little rusty, and Page plays a piano solo instead of organ for some reason. More rust with an inexplicable Walk Away. Page was not ready with the lyrics for this tonight. HYHU brings Fish out for Love You and a vacuum solo and a messed up last verse. Tweeprise closed up the set nicely.

Grace was cut from the recording I heard and Rocky Top did its job to end on a high note.

The only reason I'm giving this four stars is for the IDK segment. It's truly priceless. I don't think I've ever heard Page talk so much on stage. Otherwise this show is more of a three and a half to me.
