Super_UK_Phan Tears to his nose.

Last night Mike, Scott et all threw down hard at the Borderline in London. Half-filled 300-capacity night club was blown away by the energy, fun and rocking musicianship. Worst seat in the house was maybe 40 feet from stage, easy to nudge your way up front if you wished, but it really was all good.

Cities was a real stonker, as was just about everything they played. Other highlights: Jaded, Moss, Meat and You Don't Mess Around...

The crowd contained a handful of Phish t-shirts worn by U.S. expats now living in London (myself included on both counts). Of the five Brits in our group of seven, most had never seen a Mike or Phish-related gig before and everyone was suitably blown away. Indeed, I and several others talked briefly after the show (whilst Mike, Scott and the rest of the band hung about in the club), that we had just experienced something legendary.

Tall words, and as is often the case with these types of shows, definitely an exuberant after-glow sentiment. But Mike didn't have to spell it out, though he did, that this was the final gig of their mini-tour, and for the foreseeable future. Mike joked that this fact "brought a tear to my nose," which he tapped with his index finger in case anyone in attendance didn't follow. Nice one.

The band was so very up, finally having a two-set show to themselves after the three single-set gigs in Amsterdam. They showed every sign of getting over any jet lag and were clearly primed, pumped and leaving it all out on the dance floor. Hopefully Mike releases the recording of his triumphant London return for all to enjoy. A very, very fun time was had by all - thanks to Mike for bringing it all together and making it happen.
