The YEM here starts out pretty laid back....waaaaay laid back, actually...but builds to a pretty solid ending. The McGrupp is actually pretty darn good, and thankfully spares us the trombone solo (love ya, Fish!). Man, Wilson -> Peaches with Trey "singing" the opening drum roll is just fucking cool! Loved that! Some lyrical problems during Ride Capt. Ride, and Trey is suddenly WAY low in the mix. Boogie On Reggae Woman may or may not have been played in response to someone yelling about aborigine women, but who knows. Cities -> DEG -> Cities is what it usually is, and the Antelope starts to get outta control in a wonky kinda way, but pretty much gets reined back in. Fluff is basic in its Fluffiness, so, all in all, I think this is a pretty basic show, with the exception of the Wilson -> Peaches which I found to be cool. Three stars.

First of all, the SBD recording is pretty good but a little hissy. GTBT from the first set and the entire third set are missing. So, this review is only for the first two sets. This show has lots of covers, in fact, there are as many covers as originals in the first two sets. Walk Away and Funky Bitch open the show in fine fashion. YEM is a little loose, but the jam is nice. Flat Fee is snappy; Page sounds really good here and in the following McGrupp. Wilson> Peaches en Regalia is where this show gets really interesting. Instead of Trey doing BLAT BOOM, he sings the opening drum roll to Peaches which starts the song. I know this segue happened on a number of occasions in the 80s, but it's very fun when you're not expecting it. I thought Ride Captain Ride had a very good little jam. This is the last Boogie on Reggae Woman until 12/7/97, and although, it's not super funky like the later versions, it does feature a nice solo from Page. Cities> DEG> Cities is another highlight. It's a full on DEG jam. Run like an Antelope is solid, and I really liked the intro section. Fluffhead is ok, but the recording cuts before the end of it. I thought this show was pretty fun and interesting, especially Wilson> Peaches, Ride Captain Ride, and Cities> DEG> Cities. 4 Stars.

Night 2 of Sam’s definitely improved on sound quality, however the pitch of the recording is a bit slow. Plus, there’s multiple cassette generations on this source. Still an enjoyable listen overall as this was another strong performance. Unfortunately, only the first two sets circulate. The 3rd set features the debut of the one off performance of The Velvet Underground’s ‘Andy’s Chest’ as well as the first known appearance of Fish’s vacuum. If Kevin is sitting on the masters of this one it would make for a great release!
