Review by thewekk

thewekk Night 2 at the Wharf was hot right out of the gate. I was excited for Sigma Oasis, which blossomed out into an adventurous jam. As I recall it, the Reba was on point. I felt that there was a part of Golden Age that dragged a little bit, repeated a melodic theme more than I thought was needed to get it established, but I'll have to give that a listen again later. And anyway, the rest of Golden Age was a peppy romp. Both the Friday and Saturday show openers have been real gems.

Also, not show-specific, but I'm finding that the venue provides highly distinctive sound from the pit to the very top row of the bleachers. And Trey's tone is just indescribably rich. I mean, we all know, but I still want to say it out loud. The lower-on-the-neck chords that Trey plays during Roggae, for instance--jeez, I could listen even to those all night.

46Blaze The folks that run this site are so busy bickering over whether or not Quadrophonic Toppling was performed at Big Cypress 23 years ago they totally missed Fishman’s four-minute tease of 2001 in Sigma Oasis. That’s ok though; some people still haven’t left Woodstock.

Two shows in, and this is promising to be yet another outstanding tour for any era. The band is pivoting from jam back to song with a telepathy I’m not sure I’ve ever heard. It’s an exciting time to be a fan!

P.S. I was not at Big Cypress; I was twelve. Apologies

Review by SirDelins

SirDelins I missed Night 1, but Saturday night's show was quite a great way to start the concert weekend for me.

Sigma Oasis quickly goes out into great improvisational territory. An excellent way to start the night. The rest of the set had great energy, featuring some personal favorite selections such as Reba, Roggae and Free.

The second set was great too. A Wave of Hope is a song I am not too familiar with yet, but I enjoyed hearing it. Mr Completely is always a good jam vehicle, and this version does not disappoint. Walk Away was quite a treat as well coming out of Mr C. This was my first time hearing Golden Age, and the band delivered a great version that made way for What's The Use. Moma Dance, If I Could and Antelope were the icing on the cake.

The encore was strong. I Am In Miami is an enjoyable song from the Sci Fi Soldier set, and Izabella was quite the treat.

Overall, this is a pretty great show. Sigma Oasis, Mr Completely and Golden Age are the highlights, but it's a show worth listening to the full way through.

Review by mgolia6

mgolia6 The Reba and the fugue section were super tight. The last segment prior to “the note” Trey was trailing maybe a little bit more than normal but note-wise it was succinct and relatively flub free. Once the band leaves the composed section Trey starts real subtle and lingers there momentarily and the notes were so delicate. Great build as usual with whole band interplay culminating the whistling. #thebomb.com!!

Review by JAAMMEEZ

JAAMMEEZ I left Tampa, Florida around 1:45 on Saturday and I made it to the gate when Sigma Oasis started. I made it into the pit by the ending of Sigma to then hear a solid first set. AC/DC Bag to Reba to Roggae got me pumped up and couldn't wait for what is up next. Free was solid and a perfect first set closer. For the second set. Mr.Completely was the Jam of the night. You definitely got to listen to it. What's the Use got the crowd pumped up for the ladder half of the show. It's weird Moma Dance has usually been a first set opener, but it's a nice change and welcomed. I always wondered who sang the female part in If I Could. Then the BIG FINALE of the ANTELOPE A SOILD WAY TO END THE NIGHT. For the Encore, it was nice to watch I Am in Miami being performed live. And finally, they closed it with Izabella. The seven to eight-hour driver to Orange Beach was TOTALLY WORTH IT. You're Already There.
