Pretty kickass Llama to start the show. Notably strong Horn. Pretty sloppy poor heart intro. Very solid and well played Stash. Pretty straight forward 1993 first set.

Tweezer is basically the business for this show. It is very strong and cohesive with a nice quick chaotic jam that packs a punch. The segue into Walk Away is fantastic as it usually is out of a jam. It's Ice is another pretty rough version. Possum is strong. The Banjo compliments Paul and Silas well, and is surprisingly very very good during Avenu Malkenu. The Segue into Rocky Top is also pretty kick ass.

Pretty average 93' show .

THE GOOD: The best parts of this show revolve around some chaotic Trey work hinting at Dave's Energy Guide. This happens in Divided Sky (11:07) and Stash (8:00). I like the Tweezer>Walk Away here, particularly because the Tweezer really gets into full 'hey' mode where the band is quite dissonant, very foreboding of the Tinley Park Antelope. Paul and Silas is much better with Gordon Stone here and is worth listening to.

THE BAD: Rain, rain rain. It was clear that the band barely got this show off. As a result, some of the fire was saved for the following night at Jones Beach. The rain clearly was affecting the event and eventually led to the band being pulled off stage somewhat early. Ya Mar ends abruptly and the following Poor Heart has to be restarted after the band can't get things together. It's unfortunate that TMWSIY never reappeared after Alvenu, but Trey tries to salvage the mood with Rocky Top. You be the judge if it works or not.

ETC: Trey and Fish scream a whole bunch during Poor Heart and there is an All Fall Down signal (I imagine everyone got quite muddy). Trey thanks everyone at the end of the show for braving the weather.

BOTTOM LINE: A highly anticipated return to Stowe yielded only marginal returns due to the weather. 2.5/5

MY 1st Phish show!!! And we got LOST on the way and drove to the ski mountain instead of the actual venue!!! Hey it was also my 1st VT trip...I remember arriving during Yamar and dancing my way to the lawn :-) Highlights of my eve : 2001>Tweezer>Walk Away (with Pearl Jam "Alive" teases) was FABULOUS!!!!! I LOVED Walk Away and was siked to hear Trey cover it....also fell in love with Paul and Silas that night

They were giving away tickets for this show, due to the weather. Trey's opening line says it all though. The band rocked hard for the full show, and busted out Gordon Stone too. This Possum and Rocky Top are still among my favorite versions.

The show is well worth a listen, even if it lives in the shadow of the '92 Santana explosion.

The show was played in a total downpour, and the amphitheater was not built
to handle that kind of weather. Before the first set, Trey remarked that the staff
was talking about canceling the show due to the danger of electrocution.
"I told 'em, 'Fuck that. Put the plug up my ass and count out Llama!'" quoth Trey.
Walk Away included a brief tease of Pearl Jam's Alive. Possum included a brief
Tweezer jam.

Notes: It was a VERY rainy show and in order avoid the many bad points of running equipment in the rain and the fact that there were 2 large "repeater" speakers on the back of the sound board the mics were moved at last minute before the start of 1st set. The mics were moved to either side of the back of the sound board platform underneath the tent that Paul and Chris were using for the sound boards. The mics were then placed approx 1.5' away from each speaker under the protection of the tent. Good part: the sound of the tape is close to sound board quality. Bad part: it took longer than expected to move the mics and equipment which had all ready been setup, therefore the first attempt to start Llama was missed on the DAT but fortunately due to rain Trey stopped the song then restarted minutes later. The DAT started during this short break. Overall BY FAR the best recording made that day and one of the best I've ever made with the exception of the late start. There was a person taping from about 13th row center running Nak 300s with plastic bags over them that has the first attempt at Llama but he is one of the only ones who did get it as most of the tapers by the sound board patched out of me once I was setup due to the much higher sound quality.

I was at this show. I almost didnt go because of the rain even though I was 10 miles away. I was sure it would be canceled. It rained so hard all day. There was flooding in some areas. Something made us say fuck it let's go.

Got there and Trey said, "They told us we shouldnt play we're gonna get electrocuted, I said stick the plug up my ass Im counting off LLama. The above info from phish'in ias the first time I have heard confirmation of this in so many fucking years I want to cry. I had a tape back then that had it on there. Havent heard it that in at least 20 years. It's so good to get that confirmation. I love you all phishies

BTW it stopped raining after llama as far as I recall
