Review by zarathustraz

zarathustraz Martian Monster showcases an ease and confidence that eluded the band for much of the rest of the night. Trey has trouble finding fluidity in his playing all evening. Most his licks are chunky, angular, and on the nose.

What Everything's Right tries Ocelot accomplishes more successfully.

Ocelot through Gin is a strong sequence. Trey has trouble building the peak in Gin, but everyone else steps up and in to build a tsunami of growing sound that Trey can just coast to conclusion. Good stuff.

DWD jam feeds off strong interplay from the whole band.

Limb by Limb is a surprise highlight of the second set. And 2001 really benefits from Trey's newly imagined dark tones.

YEM sports a guitar solo from the guitar player, which is not as customary as you might think these days.

gingerphish A little weaker than the night before, but still not an awful show especially for this early in the tour. They got rid of some of the rust we saw last night, but still had a few sloppy points. The first set came and went. The Ocelot was my highlight. Really fresh take on what is normally a standard Julius-esque pump up jam. Instead, Trey takes the solo really dark. Gin also anchors the set well and peaks nicely (no 12/30/16 peak) like a good, type 1 Gin should.

For some reason, I never really connect with DWD jams, but this one was enjoyable and really locked me in a points. 3.0 ambiance is always welcomed in my book. Didn't stray far from where the jam they dropped into after Trey's initial solo, but got things off to a good start. What's the Use has always been a bathroom song. You may disagree, but it just gets to repetitive for me. Blaze On lands on a rhythmic jam where Fishman is just killing it. Really enjoyed this version. The rest of the set was pretty standard as was the Suzy encore.
