Happy Birthday to Fishman! This is very solid show, both sound-wise and performance wise. The Bowie absolutely rages, although I thought the PA went out or something when they did the stop-on-a-dime trick, but then BAM, right back to the jam! SOAMelt also has an interesting start, and I think the other highlight, for me, was a pretty good Magilla. I didn't realize they did the Whole Lotta Love thing more than once (I listened to 2/19 and 2/22 backwards) so that was fun again, and Fishman wishing Debbie Reed a happy birthday before realizing she had left and then saying "To hell with Debbie Reed!" was hilarious, and the post Love You noodling -> Oh Kee Pa was kind of interesting. Still and all, I think this show belongs somewhere between 3 and 4 stars. I'm going 3.

As close as I have ever gotten to seeing Phish on my birthday (02/18). My buddy kept laughing that they were teasing me with the Happy Birthday teases. Pretty standard setlist for the time. Esther was nice and coming out of the box with My Sweet One into Mike's Groove was fun. They did stronger shows at the Bayou, but the Love You/Whole Lotta Love was worth the price of admission.

Really nice digital audience recording available for this show. The acoustics are bit boxy sounding at The Bayou but what can you do. Thank you Mr. Mystery Taper!
Things kick off with three set opening tunes…Llama>Curtain>Golgi. Another strong Reba. DaaM>Sloth make a great match! After Jim, Trey informs the audience that it’s Fish’s B-Day. Lots of chompers during Page’s Coil solo. Happy Birthday teasing during the opening to Bowie. Groovy Bowie that follows a similar path to the version in Keene.
Set 2 starts off pretty straightforward with a decent Groove that has some more B-Day teasing. They play around a bit with the opening to Esther. Another really good Split Open following the great version played in Keene. HYHU starts off but quickly transitions into a Happy Birthday intro to Love You. “The birthday girl…Henrietta ladies and gentlemen.” lol Cool Whole Lotta Love jam during this extended vac solo. Happy Birthday outro in place of HYHU. Cool Magilla! Rippin’ Fire wraps up the evening on a high note.
