Why hasn't anyone said anything about the sound? Phish got to play on what IMO was the loudest, best sounding system I've heard in my life. This was my 32nd show since 96, so I may not know much, but compared to the numerous music events/festivals I've been to in my life (standing possibly even closer to the sweet spot than I was at this one) this sound just blew everything out of the water. Props to the sound engineers!!!

When Gordon threw down the initial bass stabs of Tweeprise, it was one of the most powerful things musically that I've ever witnessed. My buddy behind me even cried "MOMMY!" when it happened. It had an almost "electronica" sound to it. That bass effect may be new to me since I haven't seen Tweeprise live since Berkeley 2010, but here at Outside Lands it just sounded incredible and was such a definitive and epic way for Mike, and Phish to close out the main stage on Friday night. The Rock and Roll -> Steam-> Piper -> Roses are Free section speaks for itself and Fluffhead was damn near perfect. Yeah there were repeats, as I attended all of the Cali run, but this was a big show for Phish to be tight and well rehearsed at so I understand. As far as the crowd goes, my crew and I had no problems besides actively standing our ground during set break, as is the case in any ocean of nearly 30,000 peeps. If anything the bad energy was at the other stages that were forced to hear Phish over the top of their bands!!! (thats what I heard anyways). I'd heard people complaining "Phish for four hours, wtf?" throughout the day. Too bad for some of them, Big Boi canceled. This show deserves more credit, I guess you just had to be there.

I agree with a previous poster. This show is VERY underrated. In some ways, the festy crowd was nice, because many people left after the first set, which made it way easier to get close to the stage in the second set. In fact, this is probably the closest I have ever stood to the band for an entire set (but then again I've only seen about 20 shows).

While there may not be one jam or song that stands out, this was one of those shows that was consistently good nearly the entire night. A good setlist and a good flow. It deserves a better rating than slightly less than 3 1/2 stars (which it has as of the time of the writing of this review).

ok.. i didn't couch tour this one,.. haven't heard a lick from it yet actually, all i'm going off of is the setlist. All i'm saying is, and i may be waaaay off base here but i doubt it, but it looks like Phish just Destroyed the Outside Lands Festival.

Better than your average non-Phish festival show. Rock and Roll>Steam>Piper is very nice in the second set.

Listen to the show then! I heard from Suzy through the end and it was a fun show. Nothing groundbreaking but a great introduction to the Phish for the many now converted phans at outside lands. Ending mikes groove was surprising I was hoping Mikes song would end the first set then continue into the second. Rock and Roll->Steam was the highlight for me. Mike started messing around with some effects and after a couple minutes everyone else faded out till Mike played the opening notes. I hope they keep playing Steam and eventually give it "the treatment". They patiently built up Piper instead of just rolling straight through it. Nice solo from Trey. My stream cut out during Birds no comment there. Very clean Flulffhead to a brief version of 2001. Then the unsurprising Chalkdust closer is always a great song to wrap up a night. And finally what can be said about Cavern>Tweeprise that hasn't already been said before. Fun show

This show is VERY underrated.
It may have been a festy style show, but Everything was played great. Mound was nuts, Page's solo at the end was great and it came right out of a very solid Tweezer. AXILLA was just packed with energy, and it was my first ever "called it!!!" the boys were high energy the whole show, but they were really feeling it at the end of set I, after Tweezer. Standard Mikes groove to end the first set, straight forward, old school, and well played.
Second set was just a party. Steam was killer, roses was great. Fluff was quite fluffy. But for real, backwards down the number line was beautiful and Trey SHREDS throughout... Probably my favorite version Of the song.(unfortunately there is no video on youtube!!) and chalkdust was rockin'!!
Cavern > Tweeprise encore? Awesome.
Give it a listen. I'm assuming the low rating came from setlist glances without hearing the show...it's definitely worth it. 4 stars.
