This is the only time I have seen Wolfman’s open a show, and this version dazzles! Very quickly the band locks into a tantalizing groove. This Wolfman’s gets down to business and stays there. A great version of Tube here as well. The other Tubes I have seen this summer were fun but kept short. This is a superb extended romp. Ocelot peaks wonderfully, and the mid first set Fluffhead is wonderful.

A classic Mike’s Groove opens the second set, exactly what the doctor ordered. A Groove is welcome in any set. A Wave of Hope is the highlight of the show. This jam is phenomenal. This may very well be my favorite jam of the run, although there are at least three jams from Friday that rival it. A very deep dive within 19 minutes. A Wave of Hope has become a three headed jam monster. I feel lucky to have been in attendance for both this enormous version and the one at Hartford. This YEM is so much fun. A celebration of the entire weekend on the beach.

This run blows the 2021 AC run out of the water. 2021’s new style of jamming astounded me last summer and fall. But 2022 is here, and so is another evolution of Phish’s jamming. These guys are only getting better every year. A lot of the jams this summer have been dark and spooky. I will never forget the ambient, eerie, and scary jams of this summer. This was my final and 9th show of the summer. To those of you going to Toronto, Alpine, and Dicks, may 20 minute jams be in your future!

After multiple views from the couch and misaligned spring and summer schedules, I finally got the lady out to her first live Phish for three(!!!) days on the beach. She's hooked. Let's leave aside that N1 was just about the perfect first-timer show to experience what "all that jamming" is really about and talk about N3...

As the lady rightfully observed, every show was different and special in its own right. Tonight's flavor was specially calibrated to be *her* show, as a classically trained pianist. Page was all rage tonight and really got the spotlight in a way that tickled her ivories with the increase of composed sections in the Sunday show. I think that defines tonight for me too, the joy the boys had in executing so well what they've been playing for almost four decades. On Fluffhead in particular (what good version for her first listen) she kept looking around to confirm that her show neighbors were capturing the complexity of the sound. At one point mid-Fluff she leaned over and shouted "This is like a Mozart fugue!" The lady is not wrong.

She spent the morning watching a professional musician on YouTube break down YEM. Only three shows after Blossom, I was sure we weren't going to get one. So when the doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo arpeggio started, I yelled. That exceptional Wave of Hope (j'adore the extended treatment non-traditional vehicles are getting) into the YEM is really the meat of the second set and required listening for 2022. As others have observed, it's heartening and exhilarating that they're still finding new caves to explore in YEM, all these years later. The post-vocal jam began like warm butter and grooved our sandals right off our feet.

The Mountains and Wading were beautifully placed ballads and the whole show had clean and upbeat flow. Ocelot is always a joy and that Carini was extra screamy. If I had my druthers, we would have gotten an extended Mercury or Gumbo, but they can't all be Friday's show. All in all, it was a top-shelf weekend that sent us off with a bang on Sunday. Here's to hoping the AC run becomes a summer mainstay.

I went to the show with my buddies my family my girl and my son. After seeing a lot of fish this year including the New Year’s run in April both man shows and both Meriwether shows I was here to enjoy my second night in Atlantic City from the start of the show with the opening Wolfman‘s and the vibe from the friends and the family I knew this was gonna be our show of the year the whole first that was amazing including a near perfect Midsouth Fluffhead in a rocking end of Ceccherini as soon as I heard the Carini I ran back to my crew with my water bottles in hand and dance my butt off my six-year-old son played on the beach with a bunch of kids that he met in this felt more like any fish festival than any of the recent shows we have been at The second set did not did not disappoint and that Mike’s groove had us all dancing and had those painful feet feel in the feels that we would feel the rest of the set rocked out and I think this was my favorite show out of the six that I’ve seen recently and what I like to dub the mid Atlantic run can’t wait to see some more fish who knows win but hopefully soon

Great review. So much gratitude for the band and for the soul phamikynupping our game to meet the moment. What a great scene on the beach.
And how about the distinct Let It Grow and later Playin In The Band jams in Wave of Hope? Didn’t notice? Relisten.
Early in the type II section, Trey clearly drops LIGs main riff a few times, then uses that to launch into fantastic new jam territory. Later in the jam, he does the same with Playin’ and Mike locks right in there and new ground is covered again with full band synth effects in tow. A welcome nod to Jerry in these Days Between his birth and passing and an especially kind treat for any old deadheads like me in the crowd.
A friend who heard soundcheck said at one point Trey said, “we’re going to melt you fucking faces tonight.”
Promise kept. As the reviewer said, soak it up. Very special time to be a phish fan.
