This entry contains legacy content from the earler Phish.net's FAQ file and/or from earlier editions of The Phish Companion. It may be incomplete and/or out-of-date, but we hope to update it soon.

For many years, Mike answered virtually all of the fan mail himself, usually with short quips on assorted postcards. Occasionally, mail addressed to others in the band would be answered individually by them. And a very small proportion of fan mail was answered in the newsletter (see, e.g., treatment of YEM lyrics).

At some point, the mail because either too plentiful (and/or repetitive) and the role was taken over by a "Betty Frost". Who is she? ... We don't know, other than the person who answers fan mail. The handwriting appears female, FWTW, not Mike's earlier shorthand-like scrawl. But Mike's invented other people, including Joey Arkenstat.
