MYSTERY JAM MONDAY PART 469

Welcome to the 469th edition of Phish.Net's Mystery Jam Monday, the second puzzle of June. The winner will receive an MP3 download code courtesy of our friends at LivePhish.com / Nugs.Net. To win, be the first person to identify the song and date of both mystery clips, which are connected by a theme. Each person gets one guess to start – if no one answers correctly in the first 24 hours, I'll post a hint. After the hint, everyone gets one more guess before Wednesday at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET. Stay safe!

Answer: Congrats to @purplehbw on their first MJM win! This week, they quickly identified the two July 6th jams: 7/6/12 "Sneakin' Sally Through the Alley" and the 7/6/98 "Piper." Will we get another first-time winner next week? Who knows...

If the German Shepherd featured in your avatar can sniff out a kilo of concealed meth, you can certainly sniff out that 2nd jam.

purplehbw Thanks!! The past couple months we've been playing at home just amongst ourselves but at most I've only known 1 of 2 jams in the past, or just have been too late. So pumped to actually get a real win on the board!

In the early aughts I couldn’t stop listening to 7/6/98 - the circulating AUD (Schoeps stealth FOB IIRC) is just perfect, very little crowd noise for an FOB recording…

Anyway, of course I’ve heard the Ghost a million times but for whatever reason I hadn’t listened to that Piper in maybe 5 years. I was driving around in our new car recently, which has the free SiriusXM trial deal, so of course I was on channel 29, and that Piper came on when I was just a few blocks from the house.

Needless to say I spent almost 20 minutes sitting in the driveway with the AC and music cranked, and at that very moment I decided it was time for that outro jam to appear on the MJM…
