Saw this on the first night of previews, and this review is about what I experienced. Although I did not leave underwhelmed, I left happy. There is a LOT to love here, especially for members of the Phish community who also like musical theater.

The groove that gets going in and after the very first song had me tapping my foot and bobbing my head. My Problem Right There, which I liked as a Phish song, and Burn That Bridge, which I didn't, are both knock-out winners.

But the real memory is that gospel stomp. Yep. Gospel stomp. Sounds like Phish-philosophy applied to Broadway if you ask me. The crowd WENT NUTS during this number. When the stomp-ing ends and the full band kicks in all of a sudden, people were literally out of their chairs, cheering. It felt like a Phish show--like that moment when the Sneakin' Sally vocal jam erupts into the funky outro jam. Amazing.

Big complaint: second act is noticeably weaker than the first. And it's about 20-30 minutes too long. Still, well worth seeing. Enjoyable and fun. It has stuck with me in the weeks since.
