Trey teased Buried Alive in Landlady. Page teased Toccata and Fugue in D minor before Mike's Song. Check out the Bowie intro for a medley of teases including three Charlie Chan signals and Oom Pa Pa, Tritone Down, and Popeye signals, and a Munsters theme tease from Mike.

Review by DemandOpener

DemandOpener For a good chunk of the first set (possibly due to the malfunctioning gear and the subsequent swap out), Trey's vocals seem to be hanging slightly behind the music. It gets distracting to the point where the songs are almost unpleasant to listen to, so I wouldn't recommend this set.

The problem seems to be fixed by the second set, and the rest of the show is typical conservative/solid/average 1990 Phish. Also in set 2: a smokin' Weekapaug, a sloppy Reba, a VERY early Llama that is interesting, listenable, and arguably historical (but still needs some work), one of the best early versions of Buried Alive I've yet heard > David Bowie with a lot of secret language, and an encore with so many songs it might as well have been a third set!

(I feel like I've said this next statement about 50 times about 1988-1990, but) Overall, this show isn't really a standout in terms of anything that was played, but like so much of 1989-1990, it's worth listening to if you want to hear what the blossoming Phish sounded like "back then". 3 stars.

Review by Oliver

Oliver Fun night, though it got off to a late start. if I recall correctly the band opted to use portions if not all of the house's sound gear. The house gear failed a song or two into the first set. So the crew with help from "others" had to roll in gear from the truck, making for at least a 30+ minute delay!

thelot These Colorado Multi-Track Recordings are just superb! It’s amazing that so many great recordings came out of Colorado early on. Big thanks to Mike Grace for getting it done and sharing these dank seeds with community! I wish every Phish show sounded this good! :)

A nice Landlady with some Buried Alive teasing opens things up. You can hear music in the background as Bouncin’ is finishing up. You hear the music more clearly as they fix some sound issues with their speakers. Apparently there was a stereo playing in the background. Trey has to request that it be turned off. They tune Donna Lee before launching into it. The segue into Suzy out of The Asse Festival is interesting. Decent Possum to close out set 1.

Pretty straightforward Mike’s Groove to kick off the second half. Groove is the highlight per usual. Solid version of Foam. Llama hit the ground running. Love these OG versions! This pairs nicely with Curtis Lowe. A few minor rough spots in Fluffhead but overall a beautiful version. Trey introduces Henrietta during HYHU, Fish failed to wear his Zero Man costume this evening because he “wasn’t paying attention.” Someone calls for a Halloween song after Terrapin. Trey offers up Buried Alive saying “it’s the ophishial Halloween tune”. This leads into a good but fairly average Bowie for this time period. The band comes back out for an extra long encore. The girl calling out for Contact all night finally gets her treat on Halloween. ;) The band leaves the stage and returns for a second encore, Bag and Carolina. The latter of which is cut from the recording. Unfortunately, the Bag is plagued with drop-outs throughout.
