After a short trip to Canada, the 63rd show of the tour is the only show at the Sports Center in Hartford and it feels more like home for the band. You get half of Rift and a little pinch of everything else in this average affair. This was an audience recording and I hope it’s not the end of the boards yet.

Another strange opener tonight with Fish doing Lengthwise, then ticking right into Maze for that Rift album feel. Maze was ok, a little weak in Page’s solo climax and a few spots at the end. Bouncing was average and so was Poor Heart. Trey rushed into Stash so the top had some off parts from a surprised Mike. The Stash jam was smooth, but average for this tour. Trey picks up the acoustic for a rough Horse, not too bad, just not the best. Silent also struggled a little tonight in the timing. Divided had some notable feedback which took a while to quell. The jam was good by the end, but kind of average overall. Cavern was sloppy, and it seemed Trey might be having lyric troubles again. Lawn Boy wasn’t much more than average either and Fish kind of blew the cut off at the end. Trey’s count off for ATR catches Mike by surprise again so his part is off until Page comes in to help. Possum was good and you can hear Trey singing his solo notes on the recording. The jam was a bit experimental, but kind of boring to me. Very average first set in my opinion.

Wilson starts off with and continued to have The Good, Bad and the Ugly teases throughout. Trey also blew the lyrics to the second verse again. Sparkle was good, though a little off at the end. Tweezer rocked and led right into the old favorite of Walk Away, which was pretty good. Fish goes right into the Mound intro, and this one was just average to me again, and then the Balls come out… So the heavily composed piece is? Hood, well it’s not that heavily composed, but I’m sure a finger break was in order. Hood was just ok to me, nothing too special. HYHU brings Fish out to dedicate Brain to Mark and Tim and their wives. Nicely done with the usual vacuum solo. That’s another finger break before the heavily composed YEM, which was pretty good overall with a fun vocal jam. A reasonably solid Golgi closes up this better second set.

Mike gets in a funny dedication and then, for one last time, There’s Something Wrong with My Baby graces the stage as the encore and then disappears into Phish history. It would be fun to hear this today with all four of them singing like this. Everyone gets shushed for Grace and then the expected Tweeprise sends everyone on their way with a smile.

There are some good parts to this show, but again, sloppy playing and blown lyrics keep this one from getting an extra star from me. I’m going to go three stars to bring the average down a bit to settle at about three and a half where it should be, in my opinion.

First Phish show I went to and couldn't get a ticket day of show. The staff opened the doors and let us stand outside and you could hear pretty well. Then at setbreak they let everyone come out to smoke and didn't check tickets going back in and we walked in for second set.

Lots of Rift tunes. The Tweezer -> Walk Away > Mound is the highlight. The band was all lubed up from the endless nights on the road.

Maze: classic combo. Highlight is Page who really shines during his section

Stash: after a perfect composed performance Trey leads a beautiful build with some hints of exploration early on, but for the most part stays within the realms

Divided Sky: stunning flawless version. Trey dominates his solo in typical 1993 fashion

Cavern: D-Sky teases

Lawn Boy: the chairman of the boards

All Things Reconsidered: standard

Possum: high energy rager with scat singing mixed in to close the first

Wilson: fun version with some “jamming” between verses, some minor lyrical troubles but nothing too bad

Sparkle: standard

Tweezer: Fish keeps the standard drumbeat while the other guys play around. After a bit Trey leads into

Walk Away: nice treat -> from Tweez. No Trey solo but Page gets his turn of singing

Mound: standard

Big Ball Jam: shorter one but all were made

Harry Hood: n00bs in the audience clapping during the slow part, but once that's over the build and release is gorgeous

Hold Your Head Up: time for John Sullen Melancholy (Henrietta Tubman)

You Enjoy Myself: the jam softens to almost silence and rises again in glorious fashion. Mike takes an extended bass+drums section. The vocal jam is great as well
