This show featured the debut of Band/Crew Football Theme Song, which was performed as a demented version of Barracuda (by the band Heart) played over the drumbeat for My Sweet One, with Trey mincingly whining the “Crew football theme song!” lyrics. Magilla featured Paul Guinness of Ryth McFeud on trombone. Tweezer contained Walk This Way and Yield Not to Temptation teases. Brain was performed as a “special treat” for the audience. Fish sang the final verse through the vacuum, creating an excellent echo effect. Ryth McFeud was the opening act.

Review by Phishin90

Phishin90 I had heard Junta a few times prior to this show. I was going to school at MSU and had some friends I knew there, so I heard Phish was playing from my local head shop (no internet back then).
So I went down to see the 2 girls I knew and convinced them to go with me. They had never heard Phish.
We got there at the end of the opening act, cool horn band.
Phish started and Golgi was a fun "new" song for me. YEM blew me away. Tela was the highlight for me, such a beautiful song.
Well after the first set, I was so pumped for the 2nd set, the girls I was with wanted to leave. So, I said good-bye, I'm staying.
I had seen the Dead for the first time 2 years earlier, and a few times since, so I thought I knew what I was in for.
I had no idea.
Super small bar, I guess maybe 200 people, not sure though.
2nd set started and I was like WTF? Trey screeching this wierd song to Barracuda, I had no idea what was going on.
Tweezer was intense and I left with that being my new favorite song.
This show convinced me that I needed to see this band as much as possible. So glad I decided to go, and stay.

thelot Another SBD source available for this portion of the tour. This one sounds decent but is a little flat and lacks low end. The recording levels are tinkered with during Tela and improve slightly.

A pretty straightforward Golgi, YEM get things underway. Great run of songs from Mango to the set closing Bowie. Perhaps it was due to the two month hiatus, but Mango is really off. The Bowie set closer is pretty standard.

Set 2 starts off with the debut of the first band/crew football theme song over Barracuda and the opening to MSO. A pretty straightforward Reba follows. Chalk Dust is starting to grow some legs. Paul Guiness, trombone player for the opening band, Ryth McFeud, joins the band for Magilla. He can play but it’s pretty clear that he’s not as technically proficient as Phish. Tweezer has some fun teases but fails to reach liftoff in the jam. They wrap up set 2 with Tweezer Reprise. Fun encore but nothing too noteworthy.
