Weekapaug contained a Boulevard tease from Mike and a vocal jam that contained Yodelittle quotes. The soundcheck's Dog Log was performed in a reggae style and Bang a Gong (Get It On) contained When the Whip Comes Down and Slave (Rolling Stones) quotes from Trey.

3/19/93 - Wow, how fun (for me) to have just discovered this show today!
After the first set, I was thinking this show was heading for 3 stars. Pretty average-great, maybe a little sloppy in Stash, though there was a bit of a silent jam at one point. Well, that's the theme for the second set...shhhhh!
I see someone in a previous review mentioned that campus police or someone like that kept telling Paul to turn the volume down. This would explain all of the quiet jamming in Stash, Jim, Lizards and Weekapaug, as well Fish's apology to Paul during Love You.
There is almost nothing standard about this second set. Runaway Jim starts things off with a quiet jam and drifts off into some type II-ish spaciness.
It's Ice is just...well...freaky. There's an extended under-the-ice segment with a Rhapsody in Blue tease from Page, creepy vocals from Fishman and assorted weird noises, and more of said weirdness after the end of the song.
Uncle Pen has a lot of chatter from Mike and Fish, including shouts of "Hoedown!" and "Grab your partner!" Trey comments on the "fine dancing in the pit." This is followed by the 6th ever Sample, which seems to be at a tad slower tempo.
Even the damn Lizards is unusual! You can hear some weird whispering, and there's another quiet jam, plus other assorted weird stuff.
OK, so then you get the Mike's Groove. I think the Mike's is pretty uninteresting, and Hydrogen gets kind of sloppy. But the Weekapaug is really something to hear, and is the highlight of the show. Long version, LOTS of quiet jamming, great Page stuff, and the end turns into a vocal jam which then segues into HYHU. Really great 'Paug!
THEN, the Love You, with band intros, a suggestion by Fishman that they just throw Mike out in the crowd, and a really long vacuum solo which entices the whole damn crowd to start making wolf howls! Really amazing to hear, actually, one of the best vacuum performances I've heard, thanks to that crowd stuff.
On top of everything else, Trey asks everyone if they felt the earthquake, which I thought was another jab at Fishman but was, apparently, an actual earthquake!
Most of the way through the 2nd set I had bumped this up to a 4 star show, but then the Weekapaug with the Love You kicker just put it over the top. I've gotta go 5 stars for now, but that's after just one listen. You should hear the Weekapaug-> HYHU > Love You > HYHU, it's waaaay cool!

Been a long time since I was at this show. Show had so much energy. I remember a few highlights. The Trey and Mike theatrics during It's Ice and the dreadlocked kids going nuts next to me during Chalkdust. I should listen to this again soon.

Very randomly, I listened to the soundcheck again last night. Then today I was prompted to rate the show by Ellis or his bot...
Given that the memory is now quite old, still I recall having a very good time overall at the show. No musical details however...

This is the only show at the Greek Theater in Redlands and 33rd of the tour. I'm not sure of the exact pedigree of the recording, but this sounded eerily similar to the Hollywood shows, like something happened during the transfer, or Paul, or someone else, had a bad cord. Also another reviewer mentioned that the cops were telling Paul to turn it down, so we do have one of the most dynamic shows I've heard lately. Unfortunately, all of that didn't transfer over to great playing from the band on this night. Anyway...
Good Suzy to start off first set, and also a good Llama. They are a little more patient in their playing tonight. Foam was good and here's where the dynamics start and I wonder if they were getting shushed already. Bouncing was standard. Rift was better, but the timing is still not there as Fish had a tendency to rush. Stash had a bad intro and continued the dynamic playing. Fluff was pretty good; they did seem a little more patient here as well. Cavern was good and Antelope was a solid closer to a pretty good set.
Jim was ok, but not great as the dynamics continued. Ice had some problems tonight, the climb was off, the middle did have a unique jam, but the song was weak overall. Pen also had a rough middle section. Sample was good, it's still new, but really solid. Lizards continues the extreme dynamic playing, but its decent overall. Mike's was just ok for me. Hydrogen stared off ok, but got worse. Weekapaug was rocking and was unfinished going right into the Fishman section. Love You was nice and funny with the band intros with silent solos to mock the volume rules. Fish is "the Missing Link" tonight. Golgi was patient, but just ok for me in this less than stellar second set.
Everybody gets shushed for the Grace encore, which was ok, and then a rocking Chalk Dust to break the rules one last time!
It's a bummer that this show never quite blossomed into a stand out performance. It sounded just average to my ears.

One quality I appreciate about Phish in concert is their individual and collective resilience. Not only do their shows set a standard for how we perceive shows by other acts, but interviews with crew members (like Chris Kuroda) or collaborators emphasize their work ethic and professionalism. Trey sounds like he’s fighting a cold during this show (despite plenty of banter with the audience), and the show reviews indicate that the band and crew were also trying to work with the campus security officers who were dealing with noise complaints. The band responds with some very quiet playing during the second set, both in composed sections and jamming. It’s a nice contrast to the encore from 7/23/93, where Trey has to whisper to the rowdy crowd, asking them to quiet down. The preceding two-night stand in Hollywood was slightly disappointing, but Phish came back with a strong show on this night, loaded with fun and "Some fine dancing down in the pit there, some fine dancing!"

We got to Redlands quite early. So early in fact that the fence had not yet been erected, so we were just wandering around watching the stage when the soundcheck started. Mikey quickly started rolling the DAT deck and we caught most of “Dog Log†and “Heartbreaker†before Amy Skelton came by and asked Mikey to turn it off. Luckily Mikey just switched off the backlight on the display and kept rolling the mics. That was an awesome sound check!
