Another Crispy DAUD (Dat Audience) available for this show. I wonder if this taper recorded the shows in Charlottesville or Richmond?
Nice Suzy/YEM combo to open the show. Cavern was dedicated to the guy in the front row. Rippin’ Tweezer.
A decent Landlady segues right into Trey introducing Captain Zero. This followed by HYHU. Trey puts in a request to Fish for Terrapin. The HYHU outro segues into a nice Divided Sky. Magilla has a strong solo from Mike and a cool little wood block solo from Fish. Solid Groove to close out the set. Rippin’ GXBX to wrap up the evening. The taper recorded the PA after show music, Ray Charles “Hit the Road Jack”.

It's always wonderful to hear old-school tunes such as Dinner and a Movie played with spot-on technical finesse. Cavern is evidently still in its infancy: it's painfully slow and somewhat “hollow.” Page is a bit off for Esther, but Trey always manages to hit me right in the humanity with his tragically majestic solo that closes this ethereal tale of violated innocence.
This Tweezer belongs in my personal top 5! Fishman SCREAMS all the lyrics, and liberally sprinkles the ensuing jam with yelps and moans. The rest of the band takes this as a cue to follow suit with some memorable mayhem. The Uncle Ebenezer breakdown sounds like a snippet lifted from BBFCFM. Trey persistently bludgeons the audience with manic riff after manic riff. I've discovered that I can't listen to this Tweezer more than once a day, or I'll suffer an achy neck.
The setlist itself adequately tells the story of set 2. Possum is a good start, but the energy fizzles from there; things really don't heat up again until the set-closing Weekapaug. The enthusiasm carries over from there to the GTBT encore, with machine-gun Trey pulling out all the stops.
If you're reading this, you must be interested in early-90's Phish – go ahead and grab this show, even if only for the Tweezer!
